What is a GEDcom, anyway? It's a file created from the information in your genealogy database that is stored in such a way that it can be shared with anyone else whose program imports/exports GEDcom.
If you're new to storing your genealogy research on computer, or you don't know where to begin, I strongly recommend Brother's Keeper, a great database program that will print out various reports: pedigrees, family charts, and SO MUCH MORE.
